Goyer’s Man Of Steel Storyline Revealed?

David Goyer and Superman: Birthright.

Information surrounding the next Superman film has been a hot topic since Monday’s announcement of Zack Snyder landing the directing job. Since then, Snyder has made a couple statements about the story and how he believes it shows that Superman can work in a modern milieu. We also heard that General Zod (one of the villain’s in the first two Superman films) is the villain in David S. Goyer‘s script. Countless other little bits of information have been revealed or speculated about. Tonight, however, we learned the cool stuff: the possible premise of Goyer’s story. New York Magazine’s Vulture has learned that the film will follow Clark Kent, “a journalist traveling the world trying to decide if he should, in fact, even become Superman.”

In what appears to be a origin story, this take on the character is a solution to Christopher Nolan‘s primary concern of being able to address Superman in a realistic context. The biggest red flag in this recent news appears to be, according Vulture, that Goyer’s script was rushed and needs work. The film is on a very tight schedule, as it must be in production by the end 2011 due to legal obligations, and the script is apparently proof of that. This, it seems, isn’t necessarily anything totally freak out about. It appears that Warner Bros. and Nolan feel confident that Goyer’s script is a good jumping off point and that Snyder can deliver the remaining goods. Zack Snyder Is Directing The Next Superman

Zack Snyder Superman

According to Deadline, Zack Snyder has landed the job of directing the next film in the Superman series for Warner Bros. The Watchman and 300 director was one of several directors on a short list of filmmakers that producers Chris Nolan and Emma Thomas supposedly had been considering. There is no saying why specifically Snyder got the gig, but he does have a strong history with Warner Bros. and with comic-book films in general.

This news is still very fresh and possibly still developing, keep in touch with Deadline Holllywood for the latest and possible updates.

Darren Aronosfky Joins List of Potential Superman Directors

Darren_Aronosfky

Another week, another possible director for The Man of Steel. The Los Angeles Times broke the news yesterday that Darren Aronosfky, the director of Requiem for a Dream, The Wrestler, and Black Swan, has met with Christopher Nolan and Emma Thomas to potentially direct the upcoming Superman reboot. Joining a list that also includes Matt Reeves, Duncan Jones, Tony Scott, Jonathan Liebesman, and Zack Snyder, Aronofsky is by far the most impressive prospect yet. He brings a certain level of creativity and unpredictability to the project that films of this scale far too often lack. And while Superman may at first seem like a strange choice for someone so rooted in the independent sphere, this is same director once attached to projects like Batman: Year One, Watchmen, and RoboCop.

Most of you were in favor of Moon director Duncan Jones helming the project last week. Does Aronofsky’s inclusion in the mix change your opinion?
