collectors soundtrack Inception Collectors Edition Soundtrack Announced

Well it seems that someone over at WaterTower Music has heard our collective cries and decided to release a Collector’s Edition of Hans Zimmer’s score to Inception. Hardcore fans of the film have noticed the more than fair amount of score in the movie that is missing from the original soundtrack release. Well guys, this new release contains over 40 minutes of unreleased music and 3 brand new remixes produced by world renowned remixers. The 8-1/8″ by 8-3/4″ package also comes with a 42-page booklet with photos and stories by Hans Zimmer, Johnny Marr and Christopher Nolan, as well as a DVD with 5.1 audio and video interviews. Check out the tracklisting below. Warning: For those who haven’t seen the film yet (seriously, do you people actually exist?) there are mild-spoilers (if you’re smart enough to piece it together) in some of the track titles. The 2011 Academy Awards Round-Up

inception oscars The 2011 Academy Awards Round Up

I’m sure by now you all are familiar with the results of the 2011 Academy Awards. And you’re probably quite aware that Inception took home 4 Oscars this past Sunday night. It’s not breaking news, or news even, but we have to talk about it right? So we’ll try to make it interesting by including video clips and opinions. Let us remind you that Inception was nominated for a total of 8 Academy Awards. Quite famously none of those 8 were for Best Director. Here is what the nominations were for: Art Direction, Cinematography, Original Score, Sound Editing, Sound Mixing, Visual Effects, Original Screenplay, and Best Picture. And here’s the breakdown of the half of those it did win.

First up, Best Achievement in Cinematography. Inception had just lost the first award of the night, Achievement in Art Direction, to Alice in Wonderland. Not the best sign for Inception‘s night it would seem. I personally thought it had a more than fair shot at winning in that category, but I’m often wrong about these things. Cinematographer Wally Pfister had some tough competition, among them the great Roger Deakins who has been nominated a total of 8 previous times without a win. But sure enough the prized golden statue went to 4 time nominee Wally Pfister! You can check out video of his acceptance speech later on in the article.

inception extended special Inception: An Extended Special Look

We’re closing in on two weeks remaining on our countdown to the 83rd Academy Awards where Christopher Nolan’s Inception has managed eight nominations, including Best Picture, Best Cinematography, Best Original Score, and Best Original Screenplay. The Inception team at Warner Brothers Pictures posted a video on their YouTube channel earlier this week to pump up our excitement of the film and, more importantly, the Academy’s. The voting polls close on February 22nd.

This video has some new behind the scenes footage that, for some reason, didn’t end up on the Blu-ray. It’s also laced with those epic review quotes, including my new all-time favorite: “Audiences can’t help but be enveloped in his rapture.”

Hit the 1080p button and turn up the volume. This video is awesome.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt In Talks For The Dark Knight Rises

jgl tdkr Joseph Gordon Levitt In Talks For The Dark Knight Rises

Deadline is reporting that Joseph Gordon-Levitt is in talks to re-team with director Christopher Nolan for The Dark Knight Rises. It is currently unclear what role he could be playing in the film. Could there be a third villain? Is there room for a non-villain character that deserves the casting of JGL? Nolan has already brought aboard JGL’s Inception co-star Tom Hardy for the role of Bane, and Anne Hathaway has got the Selina Kyle/Catwoman thing down. Perhaps the Hugo Strange rumors were true? There was that Robin Williams as Strange rumor that popped up a few days ago after all. What do you think?
