The Dark Knight Returns to Select IMAX Theaters for 10th Anniversary

Warner Bros. will re-release Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight in four select IMAX theaters this August to celebrate the film’s 10th anniversary, Variety is reporting. The limited one-week engagement begins Friday, Aug. 24 in Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco and Toronto.

The Dark Knight was the first Hollywood feature release to make use of IMAX 70mm photography. Nolan and cinematographer Wally Pfister utilized IMAX cameras for select sequences in the film, and set off a trend for many blockbusters that followed behind. IMAX footage gave the film a scale and grandeur that was unparalleled. I’d be willing to bet anyone that saw the film in that format when the film was originally released count it as one of their all-time best movie-going experiences. Don’t miss out on the re-release! Tickets for The Dark Knight 10th Anniversary IMAX re-release go on sale this Friday.

Featured theaters:

AMC Universal Citywalk IMAX, Universal City
AMC Lincoln Square IMAX, New York
AMC Metreon IMAX, San Francisco
Ontario Place Cinesphere IMAX, Toronto
