All the names mentioned are too campy-like. They sound like a title Joel Schumacher would of used in his Batman films.

The Caped Crusader - a five year old would come up with that.
Gotham City - sounds like an origin story of Gotham.
The Dark Knight Returns - already been used.
Shadow of the Bat - sounds like a Batman animated TV show.

Just leave it to Nolan to come up with a good realistic title. I can't think of one.

The Dark Knight title made sense in the end when you realized his true burden...And how many knew about Two-Face being one of the main villains and killed in that same movie? Killed! So yeah, Nolan is pretty radical...he could easily kill Batman and give us epilogue some years into the future where you see Batman's Legacy, HIS town finally ''rebuilding'' itself ...and whem! you can throw a hint that, of course, he's still out there, master detective at work, always prepared, always in darkness...a living LEGEND.

nolan said that his story of batman will end in the third movie and this could mean that batman becomes a legend. that the city doesnt needs him anymore. you kill batman, but not bruce wayne, that's the difference.

EDIT: Batman SACRIFICES himself in front of entire Gotham. We see Gotham rebuilding...We see common people smiling again, kids playing ''Catch The Joker'' ( ) Jim Gordon (Bat-sign goes off, but only switched off this time, like he's hoping Batman's out there, somewhere), Lucius Fox (Wayne Enterprises going sky high), Selina Kyle in civilian mode, thinking, well, Batman just f-ing died in front of her eyes (sorry, whishfull thinking )

Alfred Pennyworth voice-over. Already gave me goose bumps...Imagine Bruce switching off the lights in Bat-cave, computers fading out, Bats flying around, screaming...One last thing you see is Bruce's expression as he sees Bat-suit, camera closing in, Bat-sign-CLOSED CASE...''TITLE'' - Music...

oh thank at last someone who gets it, whoever says legend actually gets the point, please go back 3 pages or something where I put my thoughts on this and why it should have the word legend instead of those extremely ridiculous titles.
Nolan plans to end the bloody batman story, so death is a very possible ending.
he won't quit, and if he doesn't die some sucker is gonna want to take Nolan's universe of batman and ruin it somehow...

Batman is not a legend because to become a legend, you need to die. Batman will never die, its a symbol against corruption.
