Can't understand why a movie that still perform so well are losing so many locations this weekend.

Have to keep in mind that the film is probably doing really really well in some areas and less so in others. Those with bigger/more premium screens are the ones people are flocking to, less so for those with older/smaller screens where it might make sense to remove Oppenheimer after 5 weeks. Regardless, 2800 theaters is plenty wide for now. Question is how big of a hit it takes after Labor Day weekend.

Universal’s Oppenheimer at 2,872 theaters is seeing a sixth Friday of $2.2M, and a 3-day of $7.8M (-27%) putting the Christopher Nolan’s running total by Sunday at $298.8M, becoming his third highest grossing movie at the domestic B.O., ahead of Inception ($293M) and behind The Dark Knight ($530M) and The Dark Knight Rises ($448M).

Lot of newer movies might have theaters two or three week run so they have to drop Oppenheimer
