If there's anything I've learned from visiting various message boards and digital media classes, it's that a good deal of the internet community -- especially the "geeky" side of it -- doesn't know what the fuck they're talking about in regards to movies. This is especially when it comes to the huge franchises like SW, MCU, etc and other genre films.

As for the film itself, I really liked the execution of it all, but by the end, it did not resonate with me as well as I had hoped. Yes, there were subversions to the Beauty and the Beast story line, but I think there was still way more room for growth with its premise and it didn't quite reach the highs it needed to.
Lady Bird is still my personal preference among the nominees for Best Picture. That said, props to GDT nonetheless -- TSOW is still a damn fine looking film when you look at how it's put together. It's definitely his best and most poignant work since Pan's Labyrinth.

It’s whatever you want it to be... but mostly shaped as a bathtub... or a glass of water.

I'm still annoyed by this film having seen it a week ago.

Hawkins is tiresome. Del Toro's shameless approach was mediocre and at times repulsive.

Seeing Michael Shannon giving another great performance was worth the trip.

Yeah my favorite directors are the ones who have an appropriate amount of shame.
