Why do you need the big red button if there is a countdown going on?

Perhaps he is wondering why someone would shoot a man before throwing him out of the planesituation.

yeah and Trailer's are deceiving...
The timer and the red switch could be from different unrelated scenes/sequences.

In this trailer for The Dark Knight, say,



Joker fires a Bazooka at 1:07

and the impact of the Bazooka shot, as shown in the trailer, was this:

And, as we all know from having watched The Dark Knight, the Bazooka was fired at the truck transporting Harvey Dent, not Dr. Crane's men from the Buyer Beware scene.


so what I am trying to say is... the timer can be from a different sequence in the movie (say, the run up to the final detonation)

while the red switch can be from the sequence of the trail
