Cyanide is the most powerful poison that spies used for suicide when held capture by the enemy... it's very powerful.
Certainly is, im wondering wether its effects are enhanced for artistic reasons in the film, as far as i know cyanide basically prevents the cells of your body from using oxigen, doesnt sound like such a bloody death.

Well before he is made to take the cyanide capsule, I'm sure JDW is subjected to more cinematic violence like manhandling and a physical interrogation which gives him the bloodshot eyes. Then probably they threaten the life of JDW's fake VIP which JDW must not give in to which is why the Russian kicks the fake VIP's chair seemingly shooting him afterwards.
( think like the Casino Royale interrogation scene. They go for physical violence against the lead, which doesn't work because they're spies who are thoroughly trained. Hence the next step is to test their humanity which is threatening the lives of people they care about)
My take on that scene, is that Nolan will show some original interrogation method mixed with game theory (ie, prisoner's dilemma) When that guy throws the other guy, I remember Bane on the plan, and the "he didn't fly so good, who wants to try next?" quote.
