Here's another update of what I feel like happened in the prologue
I've watched it closely about 10 times now so here's what I'm taking away from it...
JDW is being held hostage in the fake counter-terrorist van by Yuri Kolokolnikov's character. He is woken up to begin the operation which is to capture the person of interest in the upper-level boxes. Instead of capturing him, JDW gives him the option to come with him or he has no other choice but to be killed. He chooses to go with him and is escorted to a rally point backstage with his other colleagues. Half of his group takes the person of interest out of the concert hall, while JDW dismantles the charges from the auditorium. While he is gathering the charges, he is held at gunpoint. During this encounter, a time reversal/manipulation sequence unfolds and JDWs threat is killed with the helping hand of an unknown/unmarked, masked man (most likely is Robert Pattinson's character). JDW returns to the van with one of the men he originally went into the venue with, but this time, the man is dressed in a suit to act as the person of interest. The antagonists realize that he got the wrong man (which JDW does on purpose clearly) and holds him at gunpoint.
I can sign off on that.
the most interesting part is if JDW really is held hostage?! we don't know if he's let himself be held captive together with his team in order to easier infiltrate the venue with the local SWAT suits.
My thoughts:
I don't think he was held hostage. Why would you give a hostage a gun and then let him loose on a mission? My guess is that JDW is a mercenary of sorts (with his own team of mercenaries) hired by some kind of shady Ukrainian organization to capture that dude in the opera house. Although he doesn't seem too enthusiastic about his mission, given his facial expression in the van, so there's a possibility they may be blackmailed into the mission? Anyway, JDWs team tries to gain the upper hand by switching the target with one of their own guys; maybe they were planning to negotiate a price increase for the real dude, or they decided to protect the dude to figure out why they wanted him dead. They get found out though, at the end of the prologue and I'm guessing the Ukrainians torture JDW to reveal the identities and locations of his colleagues which he refuses to do. So JDW is killed by being made to swallow a cyanide capsule (see trailer). The rest is purely speculation, but I think some secret organization rescues him by reversing (temporally) his death; I think they saved him in the opera house to by sending one of their guys in to "reverse-shoot"/kill the swat guy who held JDW at gunpoint. This secret organization is trying to prevent WWIII and recruit JDW in return for saving his life twice (at least).
Damn impressive work.
the end of the film is revealed that JDW is still going to die, the organization reverses his death temporarily but cannot actually change what happened to him.like Nolan himself said, "David is very much the hero"

I tried calling you but It wouldn't dial the right number, it was trying to reach a private number.

Is it a problem?

I might have a small problem with your username. Other than that, No, I'm done here.

I agree with this for the most part. Interesting to note two things...

1. The tie-in with the trailer
so he gets tortured, chooses to die instead of giving up his colleagues. but he actually does this twice. he could have escaped through the tunnel with the VIP, but chooses to take the fake VIP back to the van. this is a self sacrifice. he must do it again on the train tracks.
2. Your theory on temporarily reversing his
death. if he did indeed die, and if he did indeed have the death reversed, could this whole film end with his inevitable death? if his death is temporarily reversed, he must know time will eventually "run out" and he may return to death or, perhaps, find a way to avoid it all together? could we get a Memento vibe of, he always has to go a little more backwards, to get a little bit further from his death point, to buy time to do XYZ to save the world
3. to whoever said the music is Bond-esque, I completely agree. I tend to hear some Bond and Batman vibes.

4. This is a concern of mine: I really applauded Nolan for his low-dialogue effort in Dunkirk. My favorite parts of Inception were the first couple of scenes and the last couple of scenes, whereas a lot of the middle kind of dragged me down a bit due to exposition that I didn't think was necessary given that he did such a great job "showing" the rules of it all in the first meeting with Saito... so it didn't need to be "told" to us. Interstellar is incredibly bogged down with "tell" and not "show" also, but then does "show" enough to make the "tell" redundant. It's like Nolan does it the right way, but then adds some wrong way just in case. I love the guy, but this is a fault. My point is, I was hoping he would continue to go the low dialogue route. While the prologue doesn't indicate one way or the other if this will be too dialogue heavy like previous efforts, it is pretty clear already that he is "showing" a lot (which is good) but there's enough dialogue that makes me wonder if he will eventually "tell" too much (which would be unfortunate).

5. another observation. this definitely isn't
the whole scene, and it may not be the first scene. theres different bits that will be added in later.

I always thought the whole torture and cyanide pill thing was a test, and that it was never meant to kill him. I thought this because of the guy in the trailer saying he passed or whatever.

Exactly, this is what I took it to mean as well. People are taking the afterlife statement too literally.

The "afterlife" thing most likely means that his former life is now over, and he can "never go back" - once he gets introduced to the world of "Tenet", he can't live his former life anymore.

AND WHAT IF...
The whole operation was the test, and that suicide pill contains whatever makes people reverse time :D It's very unlikely though.
