Assuming Dunkirk finishes #1 for the week, will Harry Styles be the first artist to have a #1 debut solo album and a #1 debut film?
I think Beyonce did it. Not sure if I'm right, but this is really interesting list: http://www.boxofficemojo.com/genres/cha ... debuts.htm
You're right. I thought of her but then I was thinking Destiny's Child was still together at that time. They were but she was already working on a solo album.
Goldmember & Dangerously in Love both debuted at #1.

Yep - looks like Beyonce did it first.

What do you mean "finishes #1 for the week"?
In the box office realm, the first weekend is what counts, not the entire week.
- the box office info I can find for old movies is for first week, thus must compare first week

And don't you mean Mr. Dean and not Mr. Wayne?
- yes James Dean. I was confused.

Finally, why the Billboard 200 and not the thousand other music 'charts' out there?
I ask because I'm unfamiliar. Why does the Billboard 200 hold more importance?
- I was also checking the UK Official Chart for albums. Billboard 200 is the main US album chart. There certainly could be singer/actors from other countries who I know nothing about who accomplished this. I was just trying to see if anyone else did it in UK or US.

Thanks.

Mr. Styles could be the first male singer to have done it, then?

Edit: what do you mean "the box office info I can find for old movies is for first week, thus must compare first week"?

I don't see anything about the first week in the box office results for Love Me Tender, for example.

Possibly, at least for US and UK. And I saw a sentence in the Wikipedia article for Love Me Tender (film) that mentioned the first week box office.

A couple of good articles (which contain spoilers)

Vulture: How Much Is Harry Styles in Dunkirk?

And as One Direction fans know, the guy’s just got a spark to him, which helps cut through the constant despair of the beach scenes a bit. It’s too early to say whether he’s an Elvis or a John Lennon, but on the off chance the solo career doesn’t go as planned, he’ll likely always have a place in the Christopher Nolan repertory players.
and the funny but spoilery
Vulture: Your Guide to the Similar-Looking Men of Dunkirk

You’ve seen Christopher Nolan’s massive World War II epic Dunkirk, and you’ve got questions: Namely, who were all those similar-looking British actors with enviable cheekbones, and how are we supposed to tell them apart?

Yeah, that second article is hilarious.

I edited my previous post, by the way.
