The Star Wars trilogy is better than Batman Begin's trilogy
It's comparing apples to oranges.
Lol Ive always gone easier on ROTJ than most. I like it it's good fun. But it's no where near as good of a conclusion to Star Wars as TDKR is too Nolan's Batman trilogy and I don't think that many people are disputing that.

The plot isn't a rip off from A New Hope, it just adds to the nostalgia factor for the people who saw the film six years ago. Also, there wasn't any other role for Yoda to take in the film and it is very emotionally satisfying when he dies, as it makes Luke the last of the Jedi. Also, Vader's "badass"ness was not put in the film intentionally because of his escalation from the dark side to the light side; internally, there was a lot going on, you know. Also, I found no problems with the Emperor, there is nothing wrong with a change of actor and he is still a sinister and evil man in the eyes of many, kind of like the Pope or something.Celestin wrote:Do you want to take this serious? Okay, here we go. First of all, I love the original Star Wars trilogy. I fell in love with it as a kid and I have loved it ever since. Star Wars and Empire Strikes Back (the last one being my absolute favorite of the trilogy) are masterpieces and I count them among my favorite movies of all time.MovieExoddus wrote:
That's just trolling. Also, sorry if I have insulted anyone, however, the topic was brought upon me earlier and I was offended by my friend who actually thought the Nolan films were far superior. Don't get me wrong, they're great, but the original Star Wars trilogy is far better.
Yet I have to be honest that Return of the Jedi is severely disappointing. It's not only the low point of the trilogy but a weak movie on itself. The only elements that salvage this are some of the characters and not because of what they do in these films, but much because they remind you of the previous films.
The plot is a rip off of the original Star Wars (destroying a SECOND DEATH STAR, oh really?) the characters are reduced to shadows of what they were in the previous movies (Yoda makes a mere cameo and his arc in this one is rediculous - the first minutes he seems fine, then he lays down in his bed and dies?) also they didn't seem to be able to make the Vader transformation work so they rather made him a pussy from the start (notice how he merely warns people in this one - we see no badass Vader action like him strangling the rebel on the Tantive, force choking Motti in the board room or accepting capatain Needah's apology) also Return's brother - sister twist is a cheap rip off of the father twist from the previous movie. Add the incredibly underwhelming Emperor to that (Oh really, Darth Vader and the whole Nazi-esque Imperial Army is being led by some old guy in a cloak who randomly sneers and talks about "Luke's friends" as if he were on some random kid's show called "Luke and friends?) Where did the sinister deformed man with the deep voice from the Empire hologram go?
Also, Ewoks. By the time ROTJ was released Lucas became some lame businessman who tried to get as much money out of these movies as he could. You remember that heart wrenching scene of Luke watching the burned corpses of Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru and how that image was burned into your mind instantly? Lucas could have such heart breaking moments because he didn't have to worry about toys back then, studios demanded those after the movie came out because SW was such a success. If SW was made today we probably have a toy like this:
Now in Return of the Jedi the mighty Empire from SW & EMPIRE is overthrown by the mighty:
Yeah right, those guys! Uncle George wanted these movies to make him some good old dollar bills so he decided to shove these little critters in there...
I could go on for hours about how the plot of Return makes no sense, how Obi-Wan basically telling Luke that they have all been lying to him is excecuted poorly, how Darth Vader isn't the Vader from the previous films and many things that made this film an epic letdown. So I'd rank these movies like this:
Star Wars: Revolutionary and a great film.
Empire: Brilliant.
Return: Epic Letdown.
I rate the TDK trilogy like this:
Begins: Great renewal of Comic Book origin stories and a damn good film.
TDK: Brilliant.
TDKR: Satisfying conclusion to a brilliant trilogy and a great film of its own.
Now, I dare you, I double dare you mofo, call me a troll one more time.
The Ewoks are stupid, and inexcusable though. "Child appeal" isn't an excuse for nearly taking away a movie from it's core element.
However, TDKR has more issues than ROTJ. I will explain some other time, right now I am slightly exhausted. Seriously, don't be a troll dude. Me and you both know Return is a better movie.
