It's amazing how Wally went from doing the cinematography for softcore porn to working on big budget films with Nolan and doing advertisements that have Beyonce in them. It shows that with hard work and determination, you can go anywhere with the skills you have. Bravo Wally!
softcore porn?
Look at his filmography!

I'd love to hear Wally Pfister talk about underexposing by 3 stops, overexposing by 5 stops and all that anamorphic 35mm cinematography on those softcore porn movies!

What I meant is, all the Wally interviews have that technical backdrop on cinematography and he discusses the quality of his shots and the what cameras they used and it's a highly technical process to film them. Personally, I'm of the opinion that when shooting softcore porn movies, you don't pay as much attention to the technical process of shooting. The joke in this case is that it'll feel really funny for me if Wally was asked to discuss the technical aspects of shooting those films. Anyway...

Someone on IMDB was discussing about how good the lighting in those films were and all the other technical stuff. It was pretty funny.

Amelie? Really? I'd put Saving Private Ryan first, because it did the "Children of Men" thing before Children of Men did it lol. I still don't get how Slumdog Millionaire is that high. It's a dude running through India with a 2/3rds camera on his shoulder give me a break.

Saving Private Ryan wasn't exactly in the last decade. I agree about Slumdog, I thoroughly enjoyed the cinematography, but I don't see it as being one of the best.

Doesn't really matter since this list is from 1998-2008 and it's in third place, behind the film that stole a lot of the things that made SPR special visually.

Kick Amelie out, throw The Thin Red Line in at no.1 and switch No Country for Old Men and There Will Be Blood's places and you've got a respectable list. Nice to see Black Hawk Down in the runners up also.
