Maybe I wasn't clear enough, it's people that like the film, or in this case, cream their pants over the movie and think it's the hottest shit ever, that bother me. When you hear that one movie is the greatest film ever and the same people that said that get pissed off when anybody challenges that movie, it will carry over when I watch the film. It's difficult to explain, but I think you get the picture.
No, sorry, I'm afraid I don't quite get it. Unless there's a typo in the bolded part, you just said people who like the film bother you. Um, okay.
Now, if you mean the type of fans who behave in an irritating fashion, who are abusive to anyone who criticises the film as opposed to just debating the criticisms or ignoring them altogether, then I'd agree that those people are annoying and it can affect how one views a film. I'm a huge Buffy fan but the way people completely overrated Joss Whedon really got to me and I think that was one of the reasons I didn't care for Firefly.
However, you don't help your case much by posting childish crap like Realist: 2 Fanboys: 0. So, you know.

But ever since TDK, and now w/ Inception, i don't feel like i can watch his movies w/o hearing the thoughts of the extreme fanboys rattling in my head. IMHO, there are three types of Nolan fans: those who started w/ Memento (cause honestly, who first experienced Nolan when Following came out?), then those who saw Batman Begins and The Prestige (this is the group i fall into), and then those who saw TDK and Inception. And it just seems to me that the opinions I hear most come from those who have really only seen those last two films and go on praisinf Nolan calling him 'god' and 'the greatest director ever'.
Don't get me wrong: I think Nolan is a great director, and of those who came out in the past decade his is defintly at the top of the list. But I just feel like his films have lost something on me now because of all the praise. I'm planning on watching Memento ASAP, and hopefully I can get something back.
Let me begin first with this.
You can't generalize the obsessive Nolan fans as only seeing TDK and Inception. There are 3 types of Nolan fans
A) The ones who think he is good
B) The ones who think he is great
C) The ones who think he is the greatest.
The group that you hate is the last group; however, that group does not have had to start with fans of TDK and Inception.
Secondly, I hate it when someone starts to dislike something because of popular opinion. I am not saying you are one of those, but from this post I am thinking that you may be. A better statement would have been to say that TDK and Inception are overrated, rather than they have lost something. Yes Nolan fans can become obsessive, but that is true for everything in our world. We also have people who can become obsessed with hating others who have become obsessed with something.
That is my opinion. My advice is watch TDK again. Without thinking about the praise, the IMDB critics, the RT guys, the Oscar stuff. Just go watch it, and see if you like it.
