I'm not talking about the classics ones, you know, those who made history...
Just the ones that impress you the first time you saw it. No matter how small the part or if the movie is not the best.

This are some of my choices ( I can complete about full pages if I want):

Verbal Kint (Kevin Spacey) - The Usual Suspects
Ed Exley (Guy Pearce) - L.A.Confidential
Leon (Jean Reno) - The Professional
Stansfield (Gary oldman) - The Professional
Jim Graham (Christian Bale) - Empire of the Sun
Natalie (Carri-Anne Moss) - Memento
Trick (Hugo Weaving) - The Adventures of Priscilla...
Annabeth Markum (Laura Linney) - Mystic River
Forrest Gump (Tom hanks) - Forrest Gump
Josh Baskin (Tom Hanks) - Big
Wall-E
Dory - Finding Nemo
The Joker (Heath Ledger) - TDK
William James (Jeremy Renner) - The Hurt Locker
"Red" Redring (Morgan Freeman) - The Shawshank Redemption
Natalie Keener (Anna Kendrick) - Up in the Air

And much more...

The performance is what makes the character.

Of corse, but I'm talking about separate the character to the movie, you know. (I don't know how to explain that).
When you just remember the character beyond the context. Am I clear? I don't know :?

I think I get what you're saying. A character impresses you to the level that it exceeds the context of the film. But I think the performance is what allows that mostly.

its not possible to separate them.....the same way when u read a book...the way tom sawyer is to you is tom sawyer+ your imagination....for natalie its tom sawyer+her imagination....these are 2 different characters....in a movie we get the role+ the actor....they present the character as the role+themselves so the character cannot be separated from the actor.
