Actually, I'm doubting this is true. Not only because Mel Smith likes to yank people's chains but also because the Daily Mail likes to butcher and misrepresent quotes - I'm thinking Mel Smith was joking and Daily Mail presented his remarks seriously. In the past Lucas has, to his credit, decried using CGI technology to bring dead actors back to the screen. I can't see his opinion having changed any.
