This is why I have stopped watching new Netflix shows - cos you never know when Netflix will cancel them.

A lot of cheap stuff is dumped on service on regular basis. This indicates that there is territory between that and extremely popular shows that is no go zone for Netflix. A large area where you'll find abandoned shows that did not meet streamer's criteria.

They okay some projects for awards, some for increasing total count of content and some stuff that is really important to them. This important stuff can not be in a sweetspot between quality and popularity, it MUST BE INSANELY popular.

The first season had a budget of 50-60 million. Very expensive. If you have a budget like this, you have to deliver.

Unfortunately this show was not good. Yes great atmosphere, interesting premise but everything is so damn slow, everything feels unnecessary stretched out, the mystery feels off and poorly constructed and that plot twist (was it even a one?) is so lame, underwhelming and so predictable. How can anyone still come up with that "We are in simulation" crap. The plot twist ruined the interesting set piece. The ending is unsatisfying. The majority of the audience probably didn't even made it to the final episode (and they didn't miss anything).

A show gets cancelled because it sucks and only very few people watched it. Nothing wrong with that.
