The war movie is it's own distinct genre and like with all genres, imagery will repeat itself and so will themes.
no but you don’t get it, nolan owns war movies now
Not even remotely what anyone is saying, but I think you already know that

Definitely gives me a Dunkirk vibe, obvious where he got the inspiration from. Not saying it's gonna be bad, looks good

Can't wait for people to say this is better than Dunkirk because the characters are more "fleshed out"

Same people who said The Martian was better than Interstellar. smh
Why do other people’s opinions bother you?
The same reason you're bothered by people's opinions on Sharon Tate in OUATIH.
I’m not bothered, I just disagreed with the fact she could be cut from the film. On the other hand you’re talking about a film you haven’t seen yet.

If you were reading my posts, you'd see I was actually expressing my concern about a film I haven't seen being too similar to a film I have seen. That's different than slamming the film itself. If I was slamming anything it was mainstream audiences criticizing a film I have seen.

The possibility of some preferring this to Dunkirk. The horror.

Generalizing points the way you're continuing to do is a good way to get no one to take you seriously. But you do you.

The protagonist has a brother. A brother! Way more "human" and "relatable".

Haven't seen the film so really shouldn't be judging but the brother thing already feels like a cheap ploy to squeeze emotion out of audiences. Other than that, it looks good. Excited to see Deakins doing the long take thing.
Btw, nothing wrong with including an additional emotional thrust for one of the characters. Often times that can add a lot.
