I'm curious to read the argument of people who prefer the first one.£

I can't choose one...

TFA was my first SW theatrical experience and it will always have a special place in my heart. I think it's a terrific movie.

TLJ genuinely surprised me. I went in with no expectations at all and I was impressed. Absolutely loved it.

TLJ on all possible levels maybe except cinematography (both were really good) and humor (jokes worked a little bit better in TFA)

Cinematography was 10 times better in TLJ. It's a better movie in pretty much all aspects.

I’ll take the filet mignon over the Big Mac.

I loved the cinematography in TLJ but I prefer TFA. TLJ was just too soft (one aspect I didn't like). The big sequences looked amazing tho.

I’m laughing out loud here sitting in McDonalds waiting for Red Sparrow.

The Last Jedi for me, no doubt in my mind since Day One. Just overall a better movie and a brave venture into the unknown, totally unexpected piece of modern pop culture.

The Force Awakens at least was in focus most of the time.

Half the shots in TLJ are totally generic coverage.

Even if the overall look in TLJ is better and it has better single shots, on a pure shot to shot level, TFA is much more precise throughout.

TLJ

I'm not convinced TFA was a film, I think it was just 2 hours of JJ Abrams talking to the camera and everyone just remembered it differently.
