No. Bilbo was my fav character as a child and I think Martin Freeman looks awesome as him.

Thanks to this trailer and TDKR trailer/prologue, I've had Bane and Gandolf quotes stuck in my head at work all day.

Most people have Lady Gaga stuck in their head... I have movie quotes in mine.

As for your question alot of people read the books and saw the films at childhood.That's why it's so special to them.But LOTR really is absolutely amazing adventure that got every single cinematic element perfect and are an incredible achievement in cinema.
