When I gave Selma a B and was particularly critical of Duvernay for making what I felt was a TV-movie on the big screen, I had a LOT of emails and comments sent to my site attacking me for being racist. My opinion hasn't changed.

But you can't understand a movie made for the black people. I mean how can you give it a B if you don't even get it? You're a white boy. You just don't understand.

13th is what turned me sour on her
it’s a powerful film because of the subject, but it’s handled with the nuance and directorial prowess of a first year film student (hyperbole)
edit: Armand beat me to it lol
Imagine agreeing with Armand White lmao
I liked Selma, haven't really seen anything else from her
Trailer looks promising. Find it funny how everyone here is ganging up on Ava Duvernay. I guess it's easy to get riled up by a talented black woman getting to make films.

What's so funny about it?
Who's ganging up?
Who's riled up?
Why is the fact that she's black important?
Who the fuck are you?
So many questions, so little time.
This looks as ghastly as Tomorrowland.
