J.K. Rowling was never that good of a writer tbh. I love the Harry Potter books for what they are (YA fantasy novels) but they are deeply flawed in a lot of respects. No surprise that she does not seem to be doing well with writing movie scripts.
They are children’s novels, not YA.

She had a great concept and made a wonderful series with it.

Her worldbuilding abilities are completely shit. And I was saying this before the Fantastic Beasts mess. I never felt reading the Potter books that there was something really interesting going on outside the Hogwarts walls in this universe.

JNH, Law and Depp did good work though.
