Honestly, I think they have to choose between writing her out, which would still result in Leia's death or recasting her for EpIX. I really don't want CG Leia since I think that's 1.disrespectful and 2.the technology isn't advanced enough yet and I also think it never will be.
As for recasting being disrespectful, to a degree it still is because Fisher is Leia like Hamill is Luke. On the other hand, the actress who would have the part gets to finish Leia's story and pay tribute to Fisher in doing so. A worthy finish for Leia. At least that's how I think about it now.
Really tough for the filmmakers to decide what to do, given the scope of these films I think they have to do that as soon as possible...
I don't see why CGI is disrespectful, and I don't see any other solution. This film will be made almost 3 years after Rogue One. Chances are the technology has improved quite a bit by then.£

You must've missed the ethics debate that's been stirring post-Tarkin.
My problem stems less from ethics than it does from my appreciation for acting as a craft. Carrie Fisher isn't around to give another performance, so Carrie Fisher can't give another performance. Cheap imitation is hollow.
