That depends on the film, but essentially I agree, if you're able to express your feelings about it. Of course, the more you see, the more legitimate your expressions are.

Shame he was ignored in '12. Actually that was an obscenely strong year in that category.

And yet they nominated Arkin. :|

I fully expect Innaritu to pull a second win. (though it's worth noting the fact that Birdman is very much about the industry, which the Academy looooooves ie The Artist, whereas Revenant isn't.)

It seems that some people are overestimating Joy. It may be a David O. Russell film but essentially its about a woman and a mob. How is that oscar bait? Plus female lead driven films only seems to get oscar nominations for its performances. Recent female lead driven films such as Blue Jasmine and Wild only got acting nominations and writing. On the other hand both Woody Allen and Vallée films prior to Blue and Wild with a male lead got nominations for picture, directing, acting and writing. Another film people are overestimating is Carol. It will receive nominations for its performances and perhaps writing and since its a period piece costume, production design. So far I think Joy will be nominated for best actress and best original screenplay.

Undeservedly. Jennifer Lawrence needs to go back to proper independent roles instead of hanging out with David O. Russell. She has barely shown any range yet, and she's already being compared to Meryl Streep.
