This was rather delightful. Spielberg really makes this work, even with all the references and Easter eggs aplenty. Ben Men ham tho
Forgot to ask if Rylance is as bad in this as the trailer suggests?

Isn’t Rylance mostly there to deliver a silly MacGuffin and... die? Or disappear just to show up at the end? Looks like a total archetype therefore I wouldn’t hold a grudge against whatever he does with his screentime.

I mean he is a living McGuffin but he does get plenty of screen time for one.
his character - poor guy - has big time social anxiety that's almost heartbreaking to watch imo. All of the clues for the three challenges surround his personal history, particularly his (attempt at) love life and his relationship with Pegg's character.

One thing though is that he also appears as his in game AI avatar Anorak which is where he gets to ham it up a bit as an obvious Gandalf knock-off. He is glimpsed a bit in trailers and there is some dialogue in the 'The Prize Awaits' spot

Though Tree Of Life was filmed a couple of years before it came out. Still 7 years is a long fucking time.
