Good choice, but also could be an interesting one.

So it turns out that report was just a rumor and she hasn't actually been offered anything yet, but Feige confirmed they did meet with her. And with all the buzz emerging that came from that one rumor (it even got as high as Vanity Fair before they realized it wasn't confirmed) that's definitely put her in the spotlight for the part.

I predict some kind of MacGuffin that the hero has to get in order to defeat the villain, with loads of CG and jokes during the action scenes.

So your cutting insight is that this genre film will be a genre film?

Do go on.

No, those are just the obvious tropes specific to the way the MCU films are structured every time that have become so prevalent that it's become distracting. They could mix it up a little if they didn't want to play t so boringly safe all the time. Other genre films have these things too of course but not always in this obvious a fashion and not always without actual tension and character depth. Those films usually don't take you out of the experience while you are watching them (the Indiana Jones films come to mind here generally).

Probably going to be F Gary Gray or Rick Famuyiwa then.

Glad DuVernay passed, they might be able to get someone good.

Is there a compelling reason Tate Taylor shouldn't be considered? His films thus far have been surprisingly robust for what they are, and he already got great work out of Boseman.

Going by Selma she may well be. Haven't seen Middle of Nowhere.
