It's coming and Edwards is still attached, probably for 2018 though. They at least have plenty of time to get a better script.

My only reservation is if this would prevent him from being attached to the next Godzilla, but as Brendan and others have pointed out, it's entirely possible he could pull-off a Phil Lord/Chris Miller (Lego, 22 Jump Street) kind of immediate turn around.

I side with Brendan on this. Monster's showed he's capable of wonderful characters, and Godzilla showed he's capable of stunning visuals (as did Monsters, but less so for obvious reasons), thus I think he could turn out something great in the Star Wars universe.

That screenwriter though...

Reportedly he's still signed on to direct two more Godzilla movies.

Also, I just realized: This means we might see Bryan Cranston in a Star Wars film.

Although I wasn't a fan of Godzilla, Edwards' direction of that film was not a major issue, so I'm happy for him. But how can I endorse the writer of After Earth?
