Well that's certainly interesting, since his series is slated to premiere last before Defenders. Maybe this means we'll have a group announcement for Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist at NYCC? They already have Cox there for the Daredevil panel so it's not out of the question to put them all onstage at once, like how they announced Renner and Ruffalo two years out for Avengers.
Is it? Really?

Considering the show will probably air in 2016, yes, it is interesting to cast a lead before even signing on a showrunner.
Actually, rereading Elba's exact words, he doesn't say he isn't Cage, he just says that an actor has been cast. So it could still be him.

All these shitty TV superhero commercials. Why not just watch... True Detective... or House of Cards?

Mahershala Ali joins
Ali will play Cornell “Cottonmouth” Stokes, a villain right out of comic book pages. In this iteration, Stokes is a Harlem nightclub owner who will become an unexpected foe in Luke’s life when Stokes’ criminal activities threaten Luke’s world.

There goes my hopes of him playing Green Lantern.
