There's something that's not totally working about this season so far.

For one the show is less of a caricature this season.
On top of that, it also develops a lot slower and in less surprising ways so far.
It's quirky and comical but neither punchy nor twisted.
This season is pretty good so far. I'm not sure how it will go for another 5-6 episodes without a twist after the ending of the last episode.

I feel like this season of Fargo is similar to the second season of True Detective.
I enjoyed both, but some main ingredients were indeed lacking. Still entertaining tho.

the writing is there, direction is very bland though

Yeah. It feels soulless. I also find the villain to be quite gross. I mean, he has amazing comebacks and his dialogue is gold but his appearance is just gross and that's a turn-off for me. Never really found a character in Fargo of his importance to be gross.
That teeth sequence in the last episode gave me the ughhhh what's the point of this.

good but annoying but good but... AH!
It was worth it in the end. But there's like a 4-episode run in the middle portion of the episode where it kinda drags.
But it picks up near the end.
So the future is certain. Season 4 incoming.
