thoughts on the best debut between DC/Marvel?

I think it's more fair to compare these two movies than to Nolan's trilogy
I'd say Iron Man by a tiny margin

In any case,

Man of Steel IMO, the first Iron Man was the best of the trilogy but I prefer MoS cuz I don't really like the "comedy" they put in it.

Can't really say since we know the franchise that Iron Man set up, but we don't know anything about the franchise that Man of Steel is going to set up.

But as films I enjoyed Iron Man a tad bit more than Man of Steel.
So basically Iron Man > Man of Steel > all the other films in the MCU.

Also, in before RyanRises.

I'll need to see Man of Steel a couple more times (have only seen it once) before I can call this one.

So what we have is a case of

IRON VS STEEL

I like Iron Man but I prefer MAN of STEEL

Iron Man.
