At this point, may as well just push it back to November 2020 or whatever.

What's the rush? Are the producers' bonuses tied to an April 2020 deadline or something?

EON has a distibuting partner that pays a lot of money and has a tight calendar. Not respecting the date agreed upon is bad for EON and the following negotiations with ditributors for the next films.
Also november, they would face Dune, which will appeal to similar audiences. I also wuldn't be surprised to see the MCU target May and November for his two films next year, though they won't confirm it until end of phase 3.
The date may change a f-ing third time, but it would really make EON look like amateurs in the eye of all the distribution company.

So, they're actually full ahead with production right? They usually do a press conference of some sorts before starting production. Guess they either want to keep things under wraps or just don't have time to do one lol.
