Re: Interstellar Analysis: Christian Symbolism/Themes

I will accept that there are religious themes in the movie, but I don't accept the entire film is dedicated or an homage to a particular religion. It's rife with religious motifs, but thematically it's view of the universe is in contradiction with Christianity as a religion . Interstellar's concept...

Re: Interstellar General Film Discussion Thread

While on this topic, I know parts were supposed to have a documentary feel, but I saw it in both 70mm IMAX and Digital IMAX and both times I felt the 23 Year Message scene on McC's face looked grainy and lower resolution than the other shots. I had a feeling this was on purpose but did anyone else g...

Re: Interstellar General Film Discussion Thread

Obviously the film looks incredible, but I had a thought I'm sure many of you had at least briefly.

Pretend Wally Pfister DP'd this film. How do you think it would have looked differently?

Re: Interstellar Analysis: Christian Symbolism/Themes

But the problem is that none of these claims, scientific or religious, can be refuted or proven by reading of the film alone. It's been 20 years since The Usual Suspects came out, so I'd say it's fair game to use as an example without fear of spoilers. The film is about 5 criminals, one of whom is t...

Interstellar / Inception (TIME) mashup please.

Im not really equipped to do this, but I hope that someone does a mashup of Interstellar using TIME from Inception.

I have some ideas of how the montage might be sequenced to deliver the most punch.

Re: What's Your Favorite Scene?

My fav scenes have already been mentioned multiple times but the ones that made me cry were "I'm coming back ; when?". Even in the trailer after seeing it, that makes me weepy. The messages scene. Amazing how McC can SIMULTANEOUSLY laugh and cry. I wanted to hug him. Copper's terror and despair in t...

Re: What's Your Favorite Scene?

One thing that I feel has been overlooked is all those documentary-like interviews about the futuristic dust bowl setting with all the old people that showed up again at the end. I loved that little touch and there's nothing like it in any of Nolan's other movies. Much akin to a lot of other things...

Come to think of it when
he's "kicked" awake from his dream and Murph asks if it was the crash dream, he never directly answers, does he?

If not, perhaps the dream he had and the dream we saw were different.

Re: Interstellar Analysis: Christian Symbolism/Themes

Anyone can infer religious meaning, but that doesn't make it true. Call the Blight a Plague if you want. The movie takes a shot across the bow of Science denialists... Those who today write our legislation are climate change and evolution denialists. This movie speculates a future with moon landing...

Re: Help with one big question about the NASA coordinates!

In Kurt Vonneguts World War 2 saga "Slaughterhouse Five", the protagonist gets abducted by aliens who live in the a dimension where time is not perceived as linear. They live IN the 4th Dimension (and pity humans for not being able to). So they see the universe and it's beginning and how it dies. Th...
