Re: Nolan: Behind the title "RISES"

Cool ideas^^^ but... Did you see The Dark Knight? Batman leading an army in a Nolan film? Come on, lol. Agreed. Could even Nolan pull that off? Not as part of the world he has created. He's too firmly rooted in reality in this series. If anything of that sort is going to happen in a future Batman m...

Re: Nolan: Behind the title "RISES"

I think everyone is a bit off about the meaning of this title. In a sense, we saw Batman become the Dark Knight at the end of the last movie, by taking on the role of public outcast. It's an image transformation. I just get the sense that you all are seeing this as a metaphor for Batman's public red...

Re: TDKR - Blue suit?

I doubt there will be wholesale changes from the functionality they put in the suit in TDK. If they have some plot driven tweak to the functionality, then you'll have that, but I'd say its not likely we'll get wholesale changes. perhaps some cosmetic changes to it, but I would think that would be fu...

Re: What's the PC way of saying" this movie was crap?

My least favorite of his films. Beautifully shot, well directed, but horribly paced. I didn't need it to be so mundane to get across how exhausted Pacino was. It has some wonderful character moments, and some great acting... but overall, it was a downer, and not because it was dark. I get so bored w...

They're both so different from each other.. I don't really see it as less interesting. If anything, sorting through the book to see what the Nolan's interpreted makes it very interesting.

Re: Book versus Film

I'm going to go a bit in the opposite direction than the two of you above, not that you're wrong as this is all opinion, but I have a hard time saying one is better than the other. I really loved the book, and read it after seeing the movie. Beyond the differences in the storytelling, the whole mean...

Re: Episode 25: Spoiler Style - August 3, 2010

If you're saying the writing in the Batman films between the composers is distinct, and James' music is the more thematic, I figured you assumed all of the less thematic action music is all Zimmers - which isn't the case. I know you didn't say anything about it, but I have a good feeling you're mis...

Re: Episode 25: Spoiler Style - August 3, 2010

The only non-traditional music in the batman movies is really just the Joker theme. Everything else has been done in some capacity before. It's also a giant mistake to pretend all the action music is Hans'. It should be clear to most dedicated film music buffs which action cues are James'. I'm not ...

Re: Episode 25: Spoiler Style - August 3, 2010

Well, I'm not pretending to be an expert in film scores, and I would say all film scores are derivative to some capacity. I'm sure I could take any piece from any given movie and find elements from a composer's earlier career (see James Horner), so what you've said makes sense. But to me, this score...

Re: Episode 25: Spoiler Style - August 3, 2010

Regarding the score, I respectfully disagree that its too similar to Nolan's Batman films. I'm not saying its not similar either, but to me it doesn't sound at all like a retread Batman score..it sounds pretty original. I always loved that Zimmer created something atypical for Batman, that it sounde...
