Also, did anyone see Whiplash?

Its probably the best movie I've seen in the last 5 years. It won't win best pic, but I'm glad to see it nominated and was glad to see JK Simmons get the Golden Globe for best supporting actor. He definitely deserved it.

Do yourself a favor and see it if you can.

The Academy is very sensitive to past trends especially in terms of best picture awards. I don't think Interstellar is worthy of a best picture nomination by a long shot, but I didn't think Gravity was either. Technical acheivements don't make up for lackluster stories. That being said, with Gravity...

I could totally be wrong on these predictions. I'll eat my words if it wins best picture.

I'm not sure what most of you are smoking here, but I can't see this movie getting nominated for anything beyond purely technical awards. And I consider myself a Nolan fan. Here's what I think will happen: Cinematography nom - but will probably lose to Birdman. Visual FX nom - probably win and MAYB...

7/10 Saw it, liked it. Will probably buy it. BUT... I think most people here are overhyping it. Its cool to look at but I refuse to concede that the story is as brilliant as most here are claiming. Its no 2001 and its hardly Nolan's best. Most of the "big/mind-blowing" ideas presented in this story ...
