Re: Why Are People Surprised At Miles' Appearance in America

You know, movies have been doing this for like ... decades. The viewer is meant to fill in the minor parts that are not shown. Either that or it's all up to suspension of disbelief, like how Leonard in Memento actually remembers the fact that he has anterograde amnesia, how does he do that? Get ove...

Re: Why Are People Surprised At Miles' Appearance in America

I'm not saying it would be awkward because Cobb's problems would be revealed. Of course Miles knew. But even if someone knows, are you going to drag them all the way out to some airport just to potentially watch you get arrested? Absolutely. If for no other reason than it would probably be nice to ...

Re: Inception Shooting Script Sheds Light On Questions

That would be more of a transcript than a screenplay.

Re: Possible Plot Hole

Mal and Cobb weren't trying to perform an extraction so there was no need to maintain whatever levels of dream they went through to get to limbo.

Re: the concept of totems makes no sense

What good is a device that only tells you whether or not you're in someone else's dream? What you want to know is whether or not you're in a dream at all. That never seemed like much of a threat or a concern in the movie unless you were in limbo - which was a shared dream with no dreamer anyway. The...

Re: Why are Cobb + Saito dreams at beginning and end differe

That could be. I just don't think the dialogue would make much sense if it were intended to be picked up directly after what old Saito says in the beginning of the movie. The rhythm of it seems to be Cobb cutting off Saito, filling in what he anticipates him saying about a "half-remembered dream." ...

Re: Why are Cobb + Saito dreams at beginning and end differe

My impression was, and I don't remember the lines of dialogue exactly, that the dialogue in the scene at the end picks up where the dialogue in the scene at the beginning leaves off. Cobb is just repeating the "like something from a half remembered dream" line that Saito has already said. At least t...

Is the logic of dreams just dream logic?

Dream logic. It makes a kind of sense during the dream but when you think about it later, when awake (or after the movie!) it reveals itself to be fuzzy and vague. It just doesn't stand up to scrutiny and falls apart when examined in any depth. So, is the logic of dreams as presented in the movie (k...

Re: Cobb's Inception - what is the simplest form of the idea

I would say that Saito's motivation is nothing more than to talk Cobb into taking the job. That it in some sense starts the "inception" on Cobb is also unintended...

Re: wedding ring in saito's limbo?

I never thought of it that way. Nice interpretation. Still, nobody can come to an agreement on whether or not the ring was in the scene? I watched for it on my second viewing - for this scene in particular - and I don't recall seeing a good shot of his left hand that would tell us one way or the ot...
