A few days ago a Tweet announcing that David Dastmalchian (The Dark Knight, Blade Runner 2049) had been cast in Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer appeared and disappeared in quick succession. Today THR confirmed the announcement. The actor got his first break in Nolan’s The Dark Knight as the deranged henchman Thomas Schiff. Dastmalchian’s career has taken off since — perhaps most notably appearing in a number of Denis Villeneuve films, including Prisoners, Blade Runner 2049, and Dune.

First Look at Cillian Murphy as Oppenheimer + More Added to Cast

Universal Pictures released the first look at Cillian Murphy as J. Robert Oppenheimer in Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer. In addition to the first official photo, a couple other tidbits were revealed in the announcement as well. As previously reported, Oppenheimer will be shot on a combination of IMAX 65mm and 65mm large-format film photography. However, for the first time ever, select IMAX sequences will be shot and presented in black & white. Also included in the announcement is the return of eight-time Oscar nominee Kenneth Branagh. This will be his 3rd collaboration with Christopher Nolan after Dunkirk and Tenet.

Dane DeHaan, Matthew Modine, Jack Quaid, Dylan Arnold, and Olli Haaskivi

The past week (and a few days) has seen the addition of 5 new cast members to Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer as production on the film ramps up in New Mexico. The casting news started with the report of Dane DeHaan (The Amazing Spider-Man 2, ZeroZeroZero) joining the already large ensemble cast. Then Jack Quaid (The Boys, Scream) was added this week. He was so excited, he tweeted about it. But it didn’t end there.
