Any real truth to that rumor that Russell put Nolan in a headlock over Jude Law?

If that's true with all the other crap, how does this guy keep getting work.

What I think is funny about this if true is they've both gone on to work with Bale a bunch of times

I guess Chivo likes to either work with the nicest and most lovely directors or the absolutely insufferable arsholes.
Don’t think it’s fair to put AGI and Russell in the same boat if that’s what you were doing. Yes, there were rumors of Revenant stuff but Russell has a really long and well documented/confirmed history in comparison.

Anyway, I don’t see how the Bale thing is all the relevant. Nolan really only “re-teamed” with Bale once and it was a long time ago at this point (long before Bale worked with Russell.).

While we still don’t know much about David O. Russell’s forthcoming feature for New Regency, Deadline has confirmed that Robert De Niro, Mike Myers, Timothy Olyphant, Michael Shannon, Chris Rock, Anya Taylor-Joy, Andrea Riseborough, Matthias Schoenaerts, and Alessandro Nivola have all joined the starry ensemble.

Christian Bale, Margot Robbie, John David Washington (replacing Michael B. Jordan), Rami Malek and Zoe Saldana will also star in the untitled project, which is based on an original idea from the five-time Oscar-nominated filmmaker. Filming is currently underway in Califonia. New Regency’s Arnon Milchan will produce alongside Matthew Budman and Anthony Katagas.

My god what a cast, also Lubezki is shooting this. Can't wait for this. Joy was a disappointing movie for me, maybe I need to give it another go.
I remember when Tarantino was asked which director do you think directs better his ensemble cast he said David O. Russell :).

He actually said he’s the best and Russell is second best. LOL

I’m still fond of The Fighter and Silver Linings playbook. I stand by American Hustle being a bad pointless film. Did not even watch Joy after how bad a taste American Hustle left and the meh reception. I hope with all the time off he can go back to making something as good as the two I mentioned. That said he’s by all accounts a deplorable and doesn’t really deserve making such a prestige project with such an amazing A list cast.
