Haven't seen Miami Vice but I'm about to tonight. Thanks Vader

Finally got around to watching this. It was pretty good. I have no idea why it has such a bad critic and audience rating. Doesn't hit the highs of Heat, Insider, Miami Vice or Collateral, of course, but I've seen much worse with better box office and higher marks. I love how Mann shoots cities at night, also the gun battle in the tunnel in Hong Kong was damn good.

Mann is one of the greats of the last 40 years. Everyone doing those list on social media for ranking best directors always has Nolan, Spielberg, Scorsese, Tarantino, PT Anderson, and now a days, people putting Peele, Bong Joon-ho, Aster, etc. up there. But Mann's filmography can stack up with anyone's. His TV work is real good, too.

I hate it, especially the positioning of The Last of the Mohicans and Collateral as number 1.

The Last of the Mohicans is one of my two favorite movies of his. Probably my favorite. It is WAY too low.

anyway, by preference:

1.) Heat (A+)
2.) Miami Vice (A-)
3.) The Insider (A+)
4.) Thief (A-)
5.) Collateral (B+)
6.) The Last of the Mohicans (B+)
7.) Blackhat (B)
8.) Manhunter (B-)
9.) Public Enemies (C-)

And I've never seen The Keep or Ali. I've seen big chunks of LA Takedown and Jericho Mile, never the full thing. I will, though. And naturally, a lot of the original Miami Vice rules.

5. The Insider 7/10

7. Ali 7/10
8. Miami Vice 6/10

10. The Keep 6/10 (I only saw the theatrical cut - very awkward)
11. Blackhat 5/10
