In a surprising turn of events, I showed my father both of these. He really liked the first one saying he was very surprised at how good it was. And he didn't like 2049 and called it too vague, slow paced, and meandering.

Just kind of confused by his reaction since most first-timers seem to say the opposite.

I will say, on the second viewing of 2049, it's still brilliant but there are way way way too many shots of Gosling slowly walking toward something.
He likes them old school apparently. Most people from our generation, I expect, would prefer 2049 over the original if seeing them both for the first time.£

The sequel is basically a movie trying to be the first one. Next.

What the hell does that even mean lol?

br 1982 wins cause it's stood the test of time and has harrison ford but br2049 is solid af it's just dependant on the original and therefore lesser (even if its a bit better)

this isnt not a complex situation, people

Whatever you think about BR2049, that is one thing it’s most definitely NOT trying to be.

I loved 2049 almost as much as Dunkirk, but this isn't right. It's not even wrong.

It’s not ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ because it’s subjective as all of art and therefore unsolvable situation.
