Hi, the information to us from the studio is as follows : International Debut of the above prologue is 18 Dec, and will be available for Avatar in IMAX from 19 Dec.
LETS FUCKING GO!!! International markets getting this is a huge W Getting my tickets now
when did I say I expect applause? its ridiculous to think that OBAA is the most boring movie ever made. Nolan loved OBAA! PTA and Nolan have great respect for each other!
OBAA IS one of the most boring and overrated movies of the year and quite possibly in the last decade. DiCaprio and Pen are the only thing getting it out from the drowning water, and it's not even close to anything Nolan has ever done. Nolan respects a lot of directors and movies, that still doesn't mean they are anywhere close to his level.
Nice. If India is getting it, there's hope for us too.
I'll go see Avatar Dec 22.
I also find it funny there is this guy in the comments who is so sure of the shortened prologue rumor. When we all know a lot of these reporters have no idea what they are talking about. There's no point in making a shortened prologue when the main version 5-6 minutes long. And you've got a 2 minute trailer.
It's simple. Prologue for IMAX (70MM exclusive for a week), trailer for the rest.
But we should get some bootleg version on December 12th I believe? and boy I am heading for Avatar for sure given the trailer will 100% be attached to it December 18th and release online at the same time.

If someone attending those screenings records it, yes.
But we'll get it a week later with Avatar in IMAX on much wider scale. If you see Avatar in Dolby or standard, then you'll get the 2 minute trailer instead.
Still a bit confused, does this mean the AFAA showings on the 18th in US wont have it attached? Seems a bit weird if they already premiered it with the 70MM rereleases.

Prologue - Sinners & OBAA re-releases in 70MM, Avatar IMAX showings
Trailer - In all the other options and formats, starting with Avatar normal showings in December 16th

Had to make an account just for this lol, but this is an insane thing to say about PTA. Out of all directors, you think PTA isn't "anywhere close to his level?" This is why Nolan and his fans, which I consider myself one, are often butt of the joke in serious cinephile circles/discussions. Also, you can not like the movie, but using the word "boring" to describe OBAA is just a weird thing to say about a movie that probably has the most exciting climaxes in years.

I liked OBAA but it's not really productive to just use blanket statements as well lol. it's perfectly reasonable to not find the plot engaging or exciting in that way, even as someone who like the film I can see how it might not really do much for someone else, if you're not invested in the characters which is what it all hinges on.
