Christopher Nolan's adaptation of Homer's epic poem THE ODYSSEY for Universal Pictures releases July 17, 2026
So here's what we know:
Actually Confirmed:
Matt Damon - Odysseus
Basically Confirmed:
Tom Holland - Telemachus
Anne Hathaway - Penelope
Rumoured:
Samantha Morton - Eurycleia
Benny Safdie - Agamemnon
Lupita Nyong'o - Clytemnestra (and Helen of Troy?)
Jon Bernthal - Menelaos
Charlize Theron - Circe
Zendaya - Naussikka/Athena/Calypso
Robert Pattinsion - Hermes/Suitor
Unclear:
Jovan Adepo - Will Yun Lee - Jesse Garcia - John Leguizamo --> Odysseus' Men?
I genuinely believe that Nolan/Universal has people behind the scenes starting rumours about the actors/characters.
Like "Tom Holland is young Odysseus".
Sean Avery, Josh Stewart, and Andrew Howard are likely part of the ship's crew.
John Leguizamo, I think may be one of the suitors? Whatever the part is, he dyed his hair and eyebrows blonde for the part.
Any rumor who was cast as Helen of Troy? She will obviously be in the movie. I thought somehow it could be Elizabeth Debicki cause Nolan has already worked with her+she was hinting at some secret project. But she has been cast recently in 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood' sequel, so I am not sure now...

Lupita Nyong'o is either Clytemnestra or Helen of Troy. There is no way they would make these two characters to be identical twins.

Sounds pretty perfect for one of those roles, he can play a douchebag and his role in Summer of Sam shows him as a cheating prick even though he's the lead.

Lupita Nyong'o was seen in Morocco for the filming of the Troy sequence, so it could mean that she's Helen, and the Clytemnestra one was fake rumour that was spread to prevent leaks.
But then again, Tom Holland was also in Morocco. which wouldn't make sense if he's playing Telemachus. so who knows.

My best guess is that

They shot stuff a Atlas Studios in Morroco. That is on top of all the stuff in Aït Benhaddou, which was used to represent Troy. That might explain her and Tom being there for that section of the shoot. As well as Bernthal. Not sure if Safdie was ever spotted in Morroco.
Anyway some more predictions
Elliot Page - Elpenor
Bill Irwin - Laertes
Ryan Hurst - Mentor
I think Himesh Patel is part of Odysseus' crew. He was in Morroco, then travelled with the other actors you mentioned. Was part of that clique. Then a lot of the other male actors who we don't have confirmation for will likely be suitors.
The three I am really curious about are Samantha Morton, Cosmo Jarvis and Mia Goth.
