Hmmm...I assumed Sean was part of the ship's crew in the film...so why would he be around when Anne is filming her role as Penelope?

Maybe a flashback/opening sequence set years before?

I still think he is, considering he was present at pretty much every filming location throughout the shoot. Along with the other actors we assume were part of the ships crew. Maybe just being on location he managed to sneak a look at some of the scenes she shot, even if he wasn't involved.

More of sean avery talking about the odyssey. Starts at @2:14:20

They talk about it for a while. I transcribed some highlights.
I was on this movie for 6 months. So, you know, this is going to be a big a big one for me. It's the biggest movie ever made. It is. You want to talk about fantasy and like it's the original hero's journey from A to B. Odysseus trying to get home. I'm not spoiling anything. It's the oldest piece of literature ever written.
Um, it's an incredible book. He's an incredible director. It is the biggest movie ever made. We filmed in five countries. Um, no CGI, no green screen in the middle of the ocean. We were in Sicily... that's why when Biz is like he goes on his walkabouts. I said I just walked Iceland, Sicily, uh, Greece, where else? Scotland, which is unbelievable.
I mean, Matt Damon, the hardest working actor in Hollywood. No doubt about it. Mark it right now. I watched this guy. I mean, you guys have seen pictures of him how ripped he got for this. Matt Damon is solid f*cking gold. This guy, what a beauty. Ben Affleck came and watched one day when we were on the lot in Universal. Affleck came, those two are that tight, came to watch his buddy work. It's incredible.
When asked what actors he hung with when on the movie. He mentioned Andrew Howard, Jovan Adepo, Elliot Page, John Bernthal, Ryan Hurst, Himesh Patel. Was also very complimentary about Anne, Tom and Zendaya again.

This is great, thank you

Frankenstein is the biggest and most mainstream project that Goth has been a part of to date. That will remain true for a little under a year until Christopher Nolan's behemoth The Odyssey premieres next summer and she appears alongside what sounds like nearly every star in the Hollywood firmament. (Along with most details about the project, her exact role remains under wraps, though she does say that filming was "one of the greatest experiences," that Nolan was a master class in directing, and that she "learned so much on that film set.")

Mia Goth on the Odyssey. Very curious who she is playing. Don’t believe we got any sightings of her on set.

I find it very interesting that a lot of actors are saying the same thing in one way or antoher:
"I learned so much from "set title here"-filmset"

"insert directors name" has such a clear, powerful vision, but he`s also so collaborative.

I think Nolan is one of the microscopic few directors whose words from people involved in the film I actually can incline to believe. Even with Tenet, regardless of whether some people liked it or not, the team emphasized his bold approach which I believe today even more.

I honestly think The Odyssey will be something very singular despite being a story now ingrained in a lot of people in one way or another considering it has been highly influential for storytelling and more. As some of us think, he tries to make any film of his unique when it goes through his hands. We'll see whether we like it or not but I can understand some remarks from the cast.
