Part of the crew, part of the ship!

Who will be in the crew for this one?

I think Nolan made sure Hoyte van Hoytema would be free for shooting.
I think Ludwig Goransson can always arrange his calendar since composer have more flexibility and can work on multiple projects at the same time.
I think Jennifer Lame proved to be a great asset even when she's not available during shooting.
Production designer and costume are the main question. Will Crowley and Kurland return after their absence on Oppenheimer ? Availability may decide, especially for crew member that need to do a lot of work during pre-production like costume and production design.
There's of course always the possibility that Nolan considers he reached the top with this crew on Oppenheimer and wants to move on and work with a new crew.

On Oppenheimer, he worked with Ruth de Jong on production design and Ellen Mirojnick on costume design, which was a truly amazing and total achievement in every respect, and I wouldn't be surprised if he wants to work with them again.

It's not to bash on Andrew Jackson, but is it weird that I kind of miss Paul Franklin?

This is totally my head canon, but i pair Franklin with the era when Nolan did a lot more hybrid FX with practical and CGI shots, some practical and enhanced by cgi, and some pure CGI shots, but since Jackson joined he`s only been using cgi to composite the shots, im fairly certain that Dunkirk, Tenet, and Oppenheimer have no shots that have been made by cgi, they`ve only composited and removed stuff with cg, wich is mighty impressive these days.

in synthesis i think that if Chris goes back to a CGI heavy movie, he might seek out Franklin, but if he keeps going with the fully in camera approach i think he sticks fully with Andrew.

Didn't Paul Franklin move on to directing?

The 747 sequence in Tenet had some CGI trees

Dunkirk definitely had CGI shots. I think the sinking ship towards the end is CG.

Oppenheimer seems to be 100% photographed. The VFX was just compositing and stitching different plates together.

Nolan had said that Andrew Jackson was one of the first people who read the script of Oppenheimer and as people already said the more he leans into practical effects I don't see him getting replaced unless he's unavailable.
If he does another Interstellar kind of film, I think it is likely.

When the project was first confirmed by Deadline Ludwig’s assistant posted a screenshot of the article on his story with the big eyes emoji

There is an almost zero percent chance that Hans will ever work with Nolan again, although they’re still great friends

I love Ludwig but this is a sad (& most probably true) prospect. I still think they had the greatest run ever.
