Most of the trivia surrounding this movie and movies in general are just marketing fluff repeated ad nauseam: "Kodak developed a new type of black and white film", "the nuke explosion was practical", etc.

So let's share some trivia and attention to detail that you noticed, that you haven't seen mentioned or brought up elsewhere.

I'll start:

In the beginning of the film, Heisenberg is delighted and even licks his lips in excitement when he hears that Oppenheimer could be from New Mexico, even endearingly calling them "cowboys". This is (almost certainly) a reference to cowboys and the Wild West being super popular in Germany during that time period which, if I recall correctly, was mostly due to one German author who wrote novels set in the Wild West despite knowing nothing about it.

Kurt Gödel, the man walking with Einstein in the woods at Princeton when Oppenheimer visits him to talk about atmospheric ignition, was arguably the most important mathematician of the 20th century. He is primarily known for proving that mathematics is incomplete, which means that there are mathematical statements that can neither be proven nor disproven. This result led to the discovery of the Turing machine by Alan Turing a few years later, which in turn led to the invention of all modern computers.

As hinted at in the movie, Gödel eventually starved to death because he feared his food being poisoned.

Karl May. He's also referenced in Inglourious Basterds.

Anybody here ever see the tv series MANHATTAN? While there is a bit of a soap opera feel at times, I found it to be a totally absorbing drama leading up to Trinity (at which point it was cancelled, though the plan was to go many years beyond ww2 and get into the cold war in a big way.)

We actually rewatch it nearly as often as we do THE WIRE, CARNIVALE, THE HOUR and DEADWOOD. Warning: Oppenheimer himself is only a recurring supporting character in this narrative.
