Won't be able to catch a 70mm IMAX until August 9th. I've been busy and procrastinated on getting tickets, and Universal Citywalk 70mm IMAX is pretty much fully booked for weeks, except for scattered single seats in the first few rows, way too close for me. Great to see everyone so interested in the movie though that it's been booked for weeks out lol (at least in 70mm IMAX)
Maybe I'll catch it earlier in a non-IMAX format, then have that 70mm IMAX as my 2nd viewing.
It's kind of crazy looking through all these dates for the Indiana State Museum IMAX and seeing how many seats are taken already. Opening weekend is practically sold out (one day is completely) and they even added a couple showings for Friday and Saturday. Even going down the list, all the good seats are taken if not close to selling out, including my showing and I'm not even seeing it until a week later.
- TCL Chinese Theater IMAX – Hollywood CA - Thursday 5p and 8:55p sold out added 12:50am show
- Regal UA King of Prussia & IMAX - King of Prussia, PA Thursday 5p and 9:10p technically not sold out (2 disabled seats remain) added 1:05am showing

It’s depressing knowing IMAX only makes up a small part of the box office, as most theaters are digital standard. 19 IMAX 70mm out of 4,000 theaters in the US. I’m really not sure how well this is going to open.
Moviegoing is down 33% from 2019, but the market share for Imax, one of the art’s more recognizable forms, is up 50% without adding any new screens, according to the company.

Chain theaters need to add more IMAX and Dolby showrooms, not just one per theater

Need way more PLF screens for sure. Fewer of the tiny screens that aren’t much better than watching a movie on TV at home.

That's exactly what I think and why I always say it...personally I also believe most movie goers and fans now prefers only giant screens...I mean LA there are shit load of theaters, but first time I moved here I was blown away most of the screens were like home screen size...especially big cities like LA, the price you pay for regular size screen is ridiculous.
I do believe more people will show up at theaters if a theater has more PLF screens.
