I'm so going with the female lead, since Cherami Leigh is voicing her.

This is obvious of course, but the PS4 visuals are going to probably be a major downgrade from what we're seeing here. Bit cautious about the "broad" tone, but the actual gameplay reveal and articles are terrific.

Most hyped game of this gen by far, even compared to Death Stranding, RDR2, TLOUII, etc.

It's going to set new standard for gaming just like Witcher 3 did. Hearing the quest designer about how much they've grown since then... Man, we are not ready for all the mind fuckery.

My only 'criticism' so far is that we've mostly seen this mainstream-y GTA vibe, whereas I associate cyberpunk with blade runner and melancholy and dark dystopia. What do you guys thing? All of this obviously just a PR facade?

PS: to m4 - alanah underlines how much it's not just GTA, like WH it's 100% RPG with hours and hours and hours of dialogue etc

that's my concern too, but a lot of the actual gameplay seems less GTA-y. But even having 3 story arcs, one that's "street" one that's "professional" and one that starts in a trailer is already very GTAV.

it all seems broad and "edgy" and "whacky" instead of, as you say, melancholy, darkness, loneliness, philosophical core, things like that.

i do think/hope it's mostly a PR thing tho

But the tone was known even before first footage with it being an adaptation of the board game and everything so that ain't new. I dont need it to be dark and self serious, but I do hope and I think it's more important that it gets into all that grey morality mixed with empathy porn like in WH and first impressions hint at that a lot.

ah yes the .1% of people who have played the game, or that just using that as the source material doesn't entail they can't make it tonally or thematically different regardless lol

look I'm still crazy excited, but it's fair to think the broad comic tone isn't optimal

btw, even some of the recaps said it doesn't feel very "cyberpunk" in an intuitive way
