I would have disagreed with you years ago. But they've sold out and there's no coming back from where they headed.

Steam basically overtook their priorities so now actual game development isn't really their thing anymore, at least not in the way it used to be. At least we have a degree of closure now.

But even Steam is being ran kind of poorly now, at least compared to old. The sales, the features (paid mods and such), etc. Valve just focuses on turning it into a cash cow at the expense of everyone's enjoyment.

The whole plot sounds generic and could be finished under 4 hours. I don't know why episode 3 wasn't made and released in 2008/09 like its predecessors.

It could have. Valve just got lazy and didn't care.
