But we see from normal/red point of view this: he backs to life, opens the gate, runs to the destroyed tunnel entrance.
It seems to me that if he enters before explosion then he must waits there some time hiding? I mean the timing when he steps in is so on point.
Damn it, I can't even articulate my point...
Could you be more specific about "before destroying", lets say summarize it or just un-invert Neil in that scene step-by-step? Somehow I just can't wrap my head around this scene, timing etc. and even switch pov in my head.
Think he sneaks into another entrance occupied by Sators men. It's unclear though.

We all know Nolan did whatever he could practically in camera, but there are 280 effects shots. What do you think was CGI instead of practical? I think it’s stuff like
the inverted car “freezing over” or inverted JDW being blown through the roller door by the 747 engines explosion.

Sorry if someone has sent something similar, I know people have mentioned this being a possibility but the last part is

From Total Film
By far the most popular Tenet theory doing the rounds is that Neil – the posh British spy played by Robert Pattinson – is actually Max, the child of Kat (Elizabeth Debicki) and Sator (Kenneth Branagh).

How? That all comes down to time inversion, naturally. Max eventually grows up and meets John David Washington’s The Protagonist in the future. There, the now-older Protagonist – who founded the Tenet group – makes Max invert and head back in time to before the Protagonist does opera heist. Why before then? Because we actually see Neil at the opera – he even saves The Protagonist. Just go back and watch that scene, and keep an eye out for the orange backpack tag. This would mean, going forward, Neil/Max is armed with the knowledge to defeat this own father. One compelling piece of evidence that points to this being true is Max is short for ‘Maximillian’ or, in French, ‘Maximillien.’ Backwards, that’s Neillimixam, or ‘Neil’ for short. Mind. Blown.

i keep seeing that theory, and while i love the concept i see no reason why nolan would leave such a dramatically and thematically infused story idea as guesswork for the audience. but then, that goes for the entire movie imo.

Didn’t get that vibe at all.

Hi everyone

Please could someone explain - I’ve seen the film twice now, and even more confused after the second viewing. I must be getting too old for these films

Two questions
Towards the start of the film, the wife mentions her husband going missing and seeing a woman diving off the boat ... so now the husband is dead ... so how does the plot now continue with The Protagonist meeting him etc etc

Secondly ... towards the end, how does the wife go back in time and is on the boat without an oxygen mask ...
Thanks in advance

I feel like this should be pinned somewhere because it’s a common question.
1. Kat mentions that when she and Max went back to the Yacht, Sator was missing. This Kat is the older version of herself. She hasn’t been shot yet. That version of Sator (the past Sator) left to Ukraine. Present Sator chooses to go back to that moment in Vietnam and kill himself there. Present Kat (the one who was shot) travels back to that moment and reverts.

Present Kat kills present Sator and past Kat sees present Kat jump off. She doesn’t see present Sator or knows he exists.

They all invert: they enter on the red side of the machine and come out on the blue side which enables them to travel back a week or two. Then they use another machine and enter on the blue side to exit on the red side and are now going forward in time - like normal.

Those who are inverted need inverted air. Once you revert you don’t need inverted air. She wasn’t inverted on Sator’s yacht. She was however inverted like the rest on that cargo ship, but they filled the whole space with inverted air so no one needs to wear a mask inside.

I don’t know if I explained it properly lol.

I think you got it.
