Anyone wishes
for a non-happy ending? If yes how would you see it play out?
I've always thought Interstellar should not have had Cooper survive the 4 dimensional space, and the ending was a little too tear-inducing and forced. I wish Nolan could go towards a darker direction at times.
Nolan certainly could have been a bit more subtle with the ending of Interstellar. A shorter cut of the final act would have been much better and let the audience fill up the details of the new world in a different planet.

IS that why the ending always induces my tears? Iove the ending of interstellar. I mean I don't think watching your child prepare to die is a very happy ending? I dunno. But lets say it is.

Following, memento, insomnia, and Dark Knight have quite the dark, down beat endings. So I don't think Nolan has a problem going dark.

The prestige, and Dunkirk have ambigious endings...am I the only one who reads those endings as being kind of hopeless?
I mean the prestige's characters have sacrificed a lot, and only 1/2Bale gets to go on...while literally everyone else has died. And Dunkirk is a bitter ending...the war is not over, it's just the tip of the iceberg.
So the only happy endings are Batman begins, Dark kight Rises, Inception? (depends on how you look at it), and Interstellar...so less than half of his filmography has happy endings.
Film noirs like Following and Memento tend to have bad endings so it won't come as a surprise, whereas spy movies and thrillers like Bond films, Hitchcock movies tend to have good ending.

Inception is certainly a good ending if you understood the emotional motivation, and not be obsessed with the sci-fi aspects of it.

I don't remember Dunkirk that well because it is my least favourite movie - but I am pretty sure it has a good ending?

Dark Knight has a kind of bad ending simply because they were planning for a sequel.

I think Nolan will go for a vague and philosophical ending this time round for Tenet. I doubt he is planning for a sequel for a original screenplay. I hope he makes his ending more subtle, and not like Interstellar where an elaborate and almost tawdry happy ending is right in front of you.

Let me clarify. I'm not saying the endings are failed or not emotional, I just wished he'd have more balls sometimes and go for the least expected option.
Rangers finding Cooper 5 minutes in space before he dies, like come on...
In TDKR, why would you show Bruce having coffee with Kyle in Italy, 5 minutes after Alfred cries on the tombs? Completely ruins the emotions for me.
These kinds of endings always remind me now matter how much freedom a director has, he'll still be constricted by the industry.

Please do NOT open if you don't want any potential spoilers. You've been warned!
I compared the 'Plane crash TV Spot', Trailer 2 and Trailer 3, and found something interesting. Tell me what you think.

Is the guy in the tactical outfit a clone of JDW?

Without having read Uno's potential spoiler, how plausible is it? Judging by a few of the responses, I'm guessing I probably shouldn't click if it's so plausible that it's most likely true...

I would say I agree 100%
I think the copies of people using reversed time flow can be one of the major plot twists, like a sideffect of inversion...which reminds me of Prestige

I was responding to notion of "dark" endings. Like if we define a happy ending as a hero/protagonist getting what they want, or surviving. My break down holds. I wasn't necessarily commenting on good/bad or affective. Just the idea of a happy ending or not.

This would get dangerously close to a particular Rick and Morty episode, one that many people compared to the prestige...

impressive work.
Take a look at the official poster, its a clue, there are 2 JDW's one with an oxygen mask and one without
The chase scene involves a BMW with Pattinson and JDW - an AUDI with Branagh, Debicki, and a driver/henchman - and the reversing gray SAAB - but who is driving that car?? John David Washington
Look closely at 1:39min mark of the trailer and you can see him upside down inside a car with an oxygen mask on

Remember that on-set Instagram video in Estonia where the SAAB is overturned, Branagh goes up to the car looks into it/maybe says something, walks away and drops a lighter on the fuel trail and the car blows up.
I always wondered who was in that car. Notice the chase: SAAB and AUDI both either traveling backward/forwards - depending on the point of view
What is the same about both drivers? They are wearing oxygen masks (1:39 min in trailer confirms JDW wearing mask) BMX and JDW and Pattinson are NOT wearing masks, from their point of view SAAB and AUDI are driving in reverse
