(San Antonio is my birthplace, shoutout!) AMC Rivercenter was not listed as a 70mm location for Dunkirk. But one in Dallas and one in Ft. Worth was. Bullock Texas State History Museum in Austin played Dunkirk in full screen IMAX laser, which is comparable to 70mm. Austin would likely be your best bet for Tenet.
Go Texas!!

Unfortunately driving probably won't be an option for me. I wonder why AMC Rivercenter didn't show Dunkirk. I know they've shown Interstellar a few times since it was first released, though maybe it wasn't in 70mm.

I think I may have gone to Bullock Texas State History Museum on a field trip as a kid. Think we watched some documentary on IMAX, though I can't be sure since that was years and years ago.
If you can’t drive that much, Rivercenter would still be very much worth a go and the best option in the area. They’re likely using 2K digital Xneon on a full size IMAX, same as Pointe Orlando. I saw Interstellar and Dunkirk at Pointe Orlando and was very much electrified.

I grew up in Texas City, I was right in between Space Center Houston and Moody Gardens, they both (had) a 70mm IMAX screen. I think I remember seeing a documentary about butterflies at Moody Gardens with I was 3.

I would love to see a movie on 70mm IMAX one day, but I guess this might just not be the one. Palladium IMAX is the theater I usually go to, but I had a bad experience with their IMAX theater last time I went, so I know I won't be going there for this (at least not for IMAX). I wonder how Rivercenter's IMAX compares to the one at the Palladium.

Ordinarily, I would go to Regal Pointe Orlando, a legit full size IMAX screen. But they have careless management who let their IMAX 70mm projector fall into disrepair and refused to fix it. In their simple little minds, their 2K Xneon system that can only go to 1.90:1 is just as good and it’s absolutely impossible to tell any difference. :judge: However, it’s definitely the best thing we have anywhere in the area.

However, I have a friend who’s driving 200 miles to Autonation IMAX in Ft. Lauderdale with their dual laser system that can fricking actually fill the screen. He said he’s willing to drive me, so we’ll see!
:gonf: :gonf:

(For the record, I started a petition to do something about the Pointe Orlando situation. I started it pre-COVID, but it’s still worth a shot. Give it a sign if you wanna.)

Rivercenter supposedly still has 70mm projecter! The screen size is larger than palladium, 8ft wider. Perhaps you would better off going there.

I’ll definitely give that one a try this time around. The problem I have with the Palladium IMAX is that the stadium seating sucks (I’m short, so this is important to me).

It’d be awesome if Rivercenter still had their 70mm projector and showed this, but I won’t hold my breath. The Palladium does have a regular 70mm projector (I saw The Hateful Eight and Dunkirk there), so I feel fortunate that I should at least be able to see the film projected on film, assuming they still have the projector.

So apparently the Mall of George IMAX that was a 70mm camera has been turned into laser instead. Will they still set up the 70mm cameras for this? (Assuming it releases with no issues)

Not sure on the difference between laser and 70mm in aspect ratio/projection quality compared to LieMax.
