Just like Dunkirk, this sequence will play longer in the final cut. They cut stuff out to make the prologue close to 5 minutes or to keep things hidden. You can easily point out where the cuts were made. These shots are not unused shots.
I think Dunkirk is an outlier in that regard. In an interview, Nolan said he purposefully edited the Dunkirk prologue to be just a short-film version of the full movie.

Looking at his TDK and TDKR prologue releases, those were both in the format of: full opening scene (which, with the exception of the Bane voice, went completely unchanged from prologue to theatrical release) followed by a sizzle reel of short clips. I'm leaning towards Tenet being the same; the Tenet prologue is going to be shot-for-shot what we see in the actual opening scene of the movie.

I agree with you. I don't miss anything from the Prologue, the score seemed to fit to it and be completed as well. We don't have to follow every step they make. Yeah, it took some time for us to understand what is going on but the two Dark Knight-movies' prologues were similar to this.

I have to say I do think this one will join Dunkirk in being the outliers. The thing with the TDK and TDKR prologues was that they were succinct enough that they could be viewed as isolated, short films of themselves. The events in those scenes (especially TDK's) had little ramifications on what took place in the rest of the movie in the grand scheme of things. Obviously TDKR had Dr. Pavel but the plane abduction itself didn't affect much of the overall narrative.

What seems to be the case here is that the opera raid will play huge precedent in the time inversion. Because of this, certain shots were removed for the sake of length, preventing people from piecing things together or even further confusing them without context. Whether it be a few shots or a lot, I don't think it will play out the exact same way in the movie.

I don’t think so but we’ll see when the film is out.

The thing with Dunkirk is that the prologue skips the actual opening of the film. Scenes from the three time lines are cut together. This is one sequence. I thought it was the exact opening at first (same as TDK & TDKR) but here’s why I think it is a longer sequence edited down:
-There are two guards with the VIP. A bald guy at the door and another one sitting next to the VIP. We only see JDW attack the one that was sitting next to the VIP.

-JDW and the VIP jump to a section in the middle, then cut to them sitting closer to the edge of the seating area where JDW gets to runs to the SWAT. Evidence? The shot in the trailer where they move from one spot to another in the theater.

-When JDW ran towards the SWAT he says to him “Grab his” referring to the dead SWAT’s bomb. We see that SWAT get shot (probably by the terrorists) in the trailer.

-There’s another team member who’s with JDW who is in a shootout with the SWATs while JDW is inside with the VIP before they jump. This shootout doesn’t get resolved.

-The music editing gives it away. Some transitions are slightly faded in.
There are certain editorial choices that work fine for the prologue but would be considered as lousy editing if it was in the final cut. Don’t wanna be cocky but I’ll love it when you guys are proven wrong

I was one of the people who believed the Dunkirk prologue was the actual opening of the film and it wasn’t.

The Tenet prologue is incomprehensible. I haven't followed this discussion too closely, but I've always assumed it's an edited down version of a longer sequence.

I also doubt it's the opening of the movie.

Well, at first I was beside this theory, but now I'm against it. The trailer's footage is a bit longer (you can measure it with the steps JDW takes). Long enough to show us the swat guy's collapse, while in the prologue's footage it is cut right before he gets the shot. When we change our view back (in the prologue) we can see a swat guy there, but he's not the same.

edit: I managed to find a spot where I can freeze the same frame in the trailer and in the prologue, and they perfectly overlap each other. There's no way an actor and hundreds of extras can do the exact same movement twice. So the trick was the lenght of the shot.
False, the guy in frame in the prologue shot is the guy who exposes JDW for being fake when he removes his SWAT tag on his shoulder.
I was with you at first, and it was an exciting theory, but we literally see the body of the SWAT who was shot, and then the second SWAT (who realizes JDW is fake) comes in. They're not the same person.

Regarding the extra shot of JDW and the rescuee running across the row of people,

it's just extra coverage to show how they got from the middle of the row:

to the last seat (where JDW runs from):

It's just a shot that didn't make the final cut. If you look back at Nolans trailers and compare them to the actual movies, there are always shots that went unused.

What if it's the same scene shot from two different perspectives? One we'll see at the beginning of the movie, and another time at the end from somebody else's perspective?

I thought the same thing at first. Although that is a possibility, it is highly unlikely. Quervo gave a good explanation of it with the gifs. The prologue is different right now because they had to edit it down to fit with the time they were given to get the spot. You can tell because the music changes/fades suddenly a few times, indicating a full editing cut.
